Stardoll Make-up Tips
So here I am going to show you some Make-up Do Not’s and how to fix them.
Since I am taking a break from Youtube videos for a few months (Exams), I thought I would add this small article I wrote for my own blog. It may make a nice little change from watching my videos.
1. Noddy Blusher
I see this all around my school every school week. It’s annoying and I just don’t understand how teenage girls think it’s attractive going around looking like Noddy. They think it makes them look extra pretty, but in actual fact it just looks stupid. It can work on Stardoll, this is just me over-exaggerating the Noddy Blusher in the snapshots below.
Maybe the Blusher on the bottom left-hand snapshot isn’t too bad. It was so much fun creating the clown, even though it is quite creepy to look at when you’re home alone.
Side Blush
Not a great look either. You may as well go to the Whip My Hair store and buy the Pain marks for your cheeks. Also it can work on some occasions but just plainly, it doesn’t look great when you over-do the Blush.
How to Fix this Problem
First step is to buy the right Blush. Do not buy a heavy opacity Blush.
Buy a Light Pink-ish or a Light Tan Blush to begin. This means less chance of Noddy face appearing and you have more control over the harshness of the colour.
Learn how to apply Blush discreetly
There are quite a few ways on how to apply Blush, but I prefer this way as it decreases the chance of me creating two symmetrical round circles on both cheeks.
You want to start at the corners of the cheeks where there is a noticeable V shape. Drag the Blush down, near the corners of the mouth.
Blush isn’t there to paint your face, it is there to add a slight colour to your cheek and define your cheekbones. It is supposed to look natural, not like war-paint.
Here is a Comparison between the Deep Red Blush I mentioned before, and a Light Pink Blush that I circled in Green.
First Stroke
Second Stroke
Already on the second stroke the Red Blush is starting to look too much, while the Pink Blush still looks natural.
So before you purchase the high concentrated Blushes, I suggest for a more casual look for your Medoll – purchase a slightly Light Pink Blush instead.
The Red Blush is Dot’s Red Flame Blush, the Pink Blush is Dot’s Pink Legacy Blush. Both Blushers are available in Starplaza.
2. Too Much Luxe
This has just appeared recently.
Sometimes there can be a sparkle over-dose. This is only a snapshot so you cannot see all the different sparkles appearing all over the place.
How to Fix this Problem
This can be easily toned down. Instead of using a Luxe Dark Green Lipstick and applying Luxe Lipgloss as well, use a Pale Pink Lipstick then apply Luxe Lipgloss – or remove the Lipgloss out of the equation.
Even though I am not a big fan of Luxe all over the eyelids, I still prefer the Medoll make-up to the left.
Or you can switch the situation around, Luxe Lipstick and Plain Eye-shadow.
Having detailed make-up with Luxe Lips is a lot better looking – in my opinion – than Luxe all over the eyelids and lips.
Although it can look great when you have detailed Luxe eyes and lips, just not all over the eye look for me.
3. Stripy Lips
There are many different types of ways you can creatively use Lipsticks and Lipglosses on Stardoll.
Last 3 Lip looks I created myself on a Youtube tutorial.
It can look amazingly creative and sometimes it just doesn’t work – especially with Striped Lips.
How to Fix the Problem – Find the Right Lips
Sometimes it depends on the lips you use.
Now the last one doesn’t look too bad, although it is very difficult to create Horizontal Stripes on Lips that are very small.
Pick the Right Colours to Use
The one on the Right just doesn’t look great, reminds me of a wrapping of a Chocolate Bar. So pick two colours that compliment each other or have the same tones.
4.Winged Eye-shadow
Now ever since _-_Beatyvax_-_ showed me how to create proper winged eye-shadow, I have been hooked. Although there are two different kinds of Wings I prefer to create.
Recently I’ve been looking around on Medoll and applying Eye-shadow directly to one side was becoming very frequent and I just don’t see what’s great about the trend. I think it looks pretty stupid and people still class it as a wing.
If you blended eye-shadow on the centre of the eyelids then it would look a lot better but I see a lot of people who use plain Black Eye-shadow.
How to Fix this Problem
Use different colours beside black and blend.
